Boat Rod Storage! How to make Bass Boat Quality Rod storage in your Jon boat out of PVC!
This is my 3rd attempt at adding Rod tubes to my jon boat to bass boat conversion. Jon boat modifications can be difficult. Without the help of Tiny Boat Nation and the Tin Can Crew, I don’t think my Rod locker would have been Bass Boat quality.
We added the recessed foot control lid and box (liked below) to hold 2 12v marine batteries for my 24v bow mount trolling motor,, used PVC pipe as the rod tubes, 1/16 angled aluminum framing, and .063 aluminum sheeting. I used spray paint on the rod tubes, which looks really good against the Gator Guards GatorSkinz (linked below). Normally you would use the GatorSkinz as a safety precaution for slipping, however here we used them to fill up a void between the pvc and aluminum.
Boat and project details:
This is a 16′ Jon Boat to Bass Boat conversion that i will use in Electric Only Jon Boat Tournaments. We are building front and rear casting decks, rod storage, boat compartment storage, 18 gallon livewell, and plenty of room for marine grade batteries.
