Here is a quick video explaining how to manually lift or lower your outboard engine if there were any issues with the electric tilt function or you simply need to add fluid. To add fluid you need to raise the engine to the top locked out position manually.

First we’ll have to loosen the screw located on the side of the motor mount near the transom. This screw allows the relief valve for the hydraulic system to open allowing the fluid to pass through and allowing the motor to be lifted and lowered manually. Once the motor is lifted up engage the safety lock and then close the valve screw. Don’t forget to tighten the screw as well as don’t over tighten it.

This procedure is the same on most hydraulic trim engines. (Mercury, Johnson, Evinrude, & Yamaha).
